Children’s Fishing Day “Phivos Papachristoforou”
On Saturday, June 25, for the 15th year, the children’s fishing event took place at Agios Georgio’s park in Athalassa. The event this year was dedicated to the memory of the former President and for many years Member of the Association, Phivos Papachristoforou.
The event was a success as the fish were quite active, making our little friends very happy. All the small fishermen managed to catch fish of different species. All fish caught were carefully released back into the water. The event was not only entertaining, but also informative and educational since the children had the opportunity to learn the types of fish in the fresh waters of Cyprus, the basic fishing techniques and the importance of “Catch & Release”.
We warmly thank KN FISHING stores and friend Constantinos for offering the fishing equipment that was given to the children.
At the same time, we thank Ioannidis Supermarkets for offering juices and water for the event.
Also, a big thank you to the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Forests for granting the relevant permits for this event to take place.
