The first competition for the Moondog’s 2021 Cyprus Bass Tournament has taken place during the weekend of the 17th and 18th of April 2021. It was a two-day competition and took place at the Kouris dam on the first day and at the Kalavasos dam on the second day.

The competition was at the same time the first for 2021 but also the last for the 2020 since the fifth and last competition of 2020 was canceled due to the last year’s restrictive measures.

It was a decisive competition for highlighting the champion of last year’s tournament.

The competition offered great excitement in both days and it was one of the best in quantity and size of fish. On the first day at the Kouris dam, several athletes far exceeded the limit of 5 fish. Also, on the same day, the athlete George Andreou caught the largest bass ever in an Association’s competition. The fish was 56cm long.

The good results continued also on the second day at the Kalavasos dam. Almost all the contestants managed to catch the limit of 5 fish in two days. The first 3 winners were the ones who managed to catch fish larger than 40cm which gave extra points.

The winner was Phivos Papachristoforou with 2 fish over 50cm and 3 over 40cm. Dimitri Brylev finished second and Yiannis Shittas third.

The 2020 declared champion was Louis Katsantonis who with his 5th place in the competition equaled first place at the final ranking of the Tournament together with Yuriy Rokatenko. He was declared champion by collecting the most points from the total sum of fish caught. Dmitri Brylev finished in third place.

We would like to thank all the contestants and the competition’s judges. We would also like to thank Moondog’s as the tournament’s sponsor and Presse Cafe CyprusEyeSpotCyprusKivu Speciality CoffeeUtopia Espresso CyprusBeer ShopCyprus Fishing Magazine and the auditing firm The Practice for the 2021 Association’s sponsorship.

Finally we would like to thank our sponsor Ω My Box Mods for the trophy making and offering which were given to the winners and our friend Dmitri Brylev for the provision of gift vouchers from https://dimaoutdoors.com to the winners of the first three positions and two Dima’s signature spinnerbaits to the athlete with the biggest fish.
